What Makes the Best Beer Cocktails?
The first step to making a good beer cocktail is getting the best ingredients. We have a few ideas to start you off, but with all the beers out there, the only limit is your imagination. The instructions are simple enough: Pour a bottle of beer into a big glass and add a shot of your favorite liquor.
Shock Top and Apple Pie
One of our favorite beer cocktails is Shock Top Belgian White with a shot of Blackfish Apple Pie Whiskey. The iconic orange flavor in the Belgian White pairs great with the spices in the Apple Pie. If you’ve ever had a mulled cider with orange slices, you’ll know what we mean.
Dark Chocolate and Dark Beers
Blackfish Chocolate Liqueur has a rich chocolate flavor that really brings out the dark malted grain flavors of stouts and porters. Try some chocolate liqueur with Guinness or in Rogue Chocolate Stout Nitro for double the chocolate flavor.
Black Lemon Gin and IPA
Gin and IPAs both have a ton of flavor, and when you mix the two together in a cocktail, they complement each other perfectly. Head up to the Airways Brewing Tap Room and grab a growler of their Sky Hag and it up with some Blackfish Black Lemon Gin.
Cider and Spice
If you prefer cider over beer, you can use Blackfish Aquavit to spice it up. Anise gives our aquavit its black licorice flavor and is also commonly used in mulled cider recipes. With this recipe you get all of that flavor without having to heat it over a stove.
Make your Own Mix
These are just some of the different flavor combinations that you can make. The best beer cocktail for you might start with your own favorite brand. Try a sip of two flavors side by side to see if they taste good together, or just drop the shot in and go for it. If you find a blend you like, let us know! We love to hear about the creative ways people use our spirits!
